You're getting traffic. Google Analytics shows 5,000 visits a month, the ad budget is being spent, and the phone barely rings. That gap between visitors and leads is almost never a traffic problem. It's the page those visitors land on.
We review a lot of business websites in Delhi NCR, and the same seven mistakes turn up again and again. None needs a redesign from scratch. Most can be fixed in a week.
1. The Page Doesn't Say What You Do in Five Seconds
A visitor from a Google search decides almost instantly whether they're in the right place. If the headline says "Welcome to Our Company" or "Excellence in Everything", they have no answer.
Fix: Say what you do, for whom and where, in the first headline. "Interior Design for 2 and 3 BHK Homes in Gurgaon" beats "Crafting Spaces, Creating Dreams." Then add one line on the outcome and a single button.
2. No Clear Next Step (Or Five Competing Ones)
A homepage with "Call Us", "Get Quote", "Download Brochure", "Subscribe", "Chat Now" and "Follow Us" gives people five choices and no direction. They pick none.
Fix: One primary action per page. A secondary one is fine, but make it visibly quieter. Use specific button text. "Get a free quote in 24 hours" gets more clicks than "Submit".
3. Slow on Real Phones
Most Indian traffic is mobile, and a good share is on mid-range phones with inconsistent signal. A page that takes five seconds to show anything loses a big share of visitors before it loads. We explain how to measure and fix this in our Core Web Vitals guide.
Fix: Compress and resize images, cut unused scripts, and test on a real phone over mobile data, not on your office wifi.
4. Forms That Ask Too Much
A ten-field enquiry form feels thorough to you and feels like homework to the visitor. Every extra field cuts completions.
Fix: Ask for name, phone and one line about what they need. Collect the rest on the call. On mobile, trigger the right keyboard, so a phone field shows a number pad and autofill works.
// components/EnquiryForm.tsx
export function EnquiryForm() {
return (
<form action="/api/enquiry" method="post" className="grid gap-3">
<label htmlFor="name">Your name</label>
<input
id="name"
name="name"
type="text"
autoComplete="name"
required
/>
<label htmlFor="phone">Mobile number</label>
<input
id="phone"
name="phone"
type="tel"
inputMode="numeric"
autoComplete="tel-national"
pattern="[6-9][0-9]{9}"
title="Enter a 10-digit Indian mobile number"
required
/>
<label htmlFor="need">What do you need?</label>
<textarea id="need" name="need" rows={3} />
<button type="submit">Get a free quote in 24 hours</button>
</form>
);
}
Small details here matter. type="tel" opens the number pad, autoComplete lets the phone fill the fields, the pattern blocks mistyped numbers before they reach your inbox, and visible labels (not just placeholder text) stay readable after typing. The /api/enquiry endpoint is yours to write, and it should still validate on the server.
5. Nothing Builds Trust
Visitors don't know you. If the page has no proof, they assume risk. Common gaps:
- No real photos of your team, office or work
- Reviews without names, or only a "5 stars" badge with no source
- No address, GST number or registered business details
- No portfolio or case studies
- Stock images that obviously aren't you
Fix: Add three or four short testimonials with a name, company and city. Show your Google rating with a link to the profile. Put your address and phone in the header or footer. Add logos of recognisable clients if you have permission.
6. The Mobile Layout Is a Shrunk Desktop Page
Tiny text, buttons that sit too close together, a menu with fourteen items, a call button hidden three scrolls down. This is the most common reason we see strong ad campaigns wasting money.
Fix: Design mobile first. Use at least 16px body text and tap targets around 44px tall. Keep the call and WhatsApp buttons within reach of the thumb, fixed at the bottom of the screen. Cut the menu to the five or six items people actually use.
7. You're Not Measuring Where People Drop Off
Without data, every fix is a guess. Most owners look at total visits and nothing else.
Fix: Track what matters:
- Form starts versus form submissions
- Clicks on call and WhatsApp buttons
- Scroll depth on key pages
- Drop-off by device and traffic source
Free tools get you far: Google Analytics 4 for events, and Microsoft Clarity for session recordings and heat maps. Watch ten recordings of real visitors on mobile. You'll see the problem within an hour.
A Quick Audit You Can Do Today
| Check | Pass if |
|---|---|
| Headline | A stranger knows what you do and where within 5 seconds |
| Primary button | One main action, visible without scrolling on a phone |
| Load time | Content appears in under 3 seconds on mobile data |
| Form | Three fields or fewer for the first step |
| Trust | Real photos, named reviews, address and phone visible |
| Tap targets | Buttons easy to hit with a thumb |
| Tracking | You can state last month's form submissions and call clicks |
If you fail three or more, you've found where your leads are going.
Fix the Biggest Leak First
Don't change everything at once. Pick the page with the most traffic, usually the homepage or your top ad landing page, and fix one thing at a time so you can see what worked. A simple order that tends to pay off: headline and button first, then form length, then speed, then trust.
If you're running paid ads, send them to a focused landing page rather than the homepage. Conversion rates are usually much higher when the page matches the ad.
What To Do Next
Spend an hour this week watching real session recordings on your top page, and write down every point where someone hesitates, scrolls back or leaves. That list is your fix list.
INDOTREX combines UI/UX design with fast website development, so the design changes we suggest are things we can build and measure. If your traffic isn't turning into enquiries, send us your site and we'll point out the three biggest leaks for free.
